Position Overview
East Hill Christian School (EHCS) seeks a dynamic, Christ-centered leader to serve as its next Dean of Students and Athletics Director. EHCS is a not-for-profit, private, accredited Christian school situated in the historic East Hill community in Pensacola, Florida. Committed to Christian values, EHCS aims to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth, and holistic development.
The Dean of Students/Athletics Director position will encompass responsibilities related to student conduct, school culture, and athletics. This person shall be a person of spiritual maturity and shall reflect the purpose of East Hill Christian School (“EHCS”), which is to honor Christ at all times.

Key Responsibilities
Dean of Students
- Be responsible for the behavioral conduct of the students in the School.
- Work in concert with other EHCS personnel to ensure compliance applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations and EHCS’s Governing Documents.
- Communicate regularly with the EHCS administration regarding student conduct, school culture, and academic, behavioral, and disciplinary issues.
- In coordination with the School Principal and School Counselor, monitor academic progress of students and support and communicate needs as they arise.
- Develop and manage student support plans, academic and disciplinary or behavioral probation plans, and student contracts, serving as a liaison between the School and parents.
- Initiate conflict resolution and mediation involving students, parents, community members, faculty, and staff when necessary.
- Assist with the production and regular review of policies, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Oversee the disciplinary process, including, without limitation, positive and negative discipline and reinforcement, detentions, and suspensions; supervise those involved; and recommend disciplinary actions to the School Principal and Executive Director.
Athletics Director
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining the athletics department and interscholastic athletics program.
- Integrate spiritual truth and life into the entire Athletics program, articulate a Christian philosophy of athletics, and interpret the same to coaches, student-athletes, spectators, and other participants and stakeholders.
- Provide leadership through personal counsel and communication in Christian philosophy, coaching expertise, and techniques for all sports
- Be aware of and meet all requirements of governing athletic and conferences and associations in which EHCS is a member.
- Recruit, select (with the approval of the Executive Director and Operations Director), assign, and supervise coaches with respect to instruction and coaching.
- Establish and enforce guidelines for coaches and students concerning personal conduct, attitudes, morale, and discipline in accordance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, EHCS’s Governing Documents, and Biblical teaching.
- Observe and evaluate in-person all coaches and assist in handling day-to-day management of their respective programs, including, without limitation, planning practices, teaching skills and strategy of the sport, and coaching individual athletes.
- Schedule and facilitate all athletic contests, which may include recruiting and arranging medical, safety, and other support staff; coordinating use of athletic facilities; coordinating, scheduling, and contracting with officials for all interscholastic contests and completing and maintaining contracts and similar documentation.
- Arrange transportation to and from all away athletic contests and ensure that buses are clean and fueled for trips.
- Organize required medical examinations for students and staff.
- Coordinate with local media to ensure coverage of athletic events and recognition of athletes and coaches and report results and accomplishments of teams through school newsletters, local news media, and other media, such as MaxPreps.
- Requisition and allocate equipment, supplies, and awards within the scope of the approved budget.
- Select and train efficient student managers.
- Maintain statistics and records of athletic contests, teams, and individual student athletes.
- Communicate regularly with EHCS’s administration regarding all matters related to the athletics program, including, without limitation, conference decisions, accomplishments, and issues requiring resolution.
- Represent EHCS at athletic conferences, being sensitive to EHCS’s philosophy and goals.
- Develop and pursue opportunities for hosting post-season tournaments and other revenue-generating events, and coordinate details for effectively managing such events
- Communicate with coaches and families regarding academic and conduct eligibility.
- Establish a devotional and prayer life with each coach and team.
- Promote EHCS and the Athletics Program to the community at large.
- Publish schedules of all practices, games, and related activities.
- In coordination with EHCS coaches, recognize student effort and achievements through an awards program.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with athletic booster groups to ensure programs meet the needs of EHCS’s student-athletes and their families; encourage strong spiritual leadership within the organization; when necessary, help with the creation of new or additional support groups for specific teams and events; and work to plan Fall, Winter, and Spring sports banquets.
- *In addition to the above areas of responsibility, the Dean/AD shall carry out such other duties and as assigned.

- Deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with EHCS’s Statement of Faith
- Proven spiritual, moral, academic, and leadership qualities
- Attendance and involvement in the ministry of a local evangelical church
- Christian maturity with knowledge of how to lead others to faith in Jesus Christ
- Be a warm, approachable Christian, while simultaneously evoking the respect of students, parents, and professional colleagues
- Understanding and relatability to students, parents, administrators, staff, and faculty
- Ability to build strong/positive mentoring relationship with students
- Passion for excellence in all areas of athletics
- Willingness and ability to apply biblical truths to everyday life decisions
- Demonstrated wisdom, discernment, and strength that comes from God to make difficult decisions
- Discernment and discretion to maintain confidences
- Commitment to Christian education
Skills/Abilities
- Understanding of the purpose, philosophy and objectives of Christian school education.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and team-building abilities.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in education or related fields.
- Be able to follow through on communications and decisions; manage time effectively; and establish appropriate priorities.
- Ability to understand and comply with Florida High School Athletic Association and Panhandle Christian Conference rules and regulations.
- Knowledge and experience coaching multiple sports.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in sports management, physical education, health/first aid, education, administration, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred), including 18 hours of general professional credits in sports management, physical education, health/first aid, or related field(s), and 9 hours of specialized professional credits in sports management
- Current professional education license/certificate or certification (or willingness to obtain certification) by the Association of Christian Schools International or National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (or other comparable accredited organization)
- Knowledge and experience coaching multiple sports
